Matilda was born before August 5th, 1102 in Winchester, England.1   Matilda's father was Henry I Beauclerc and her mother was Matilda Atheling.  Her paternal grandparents were William I de and Matilda Maud de Flanders; her maternal grandparents were Malcolm III Canmore and Margaret Atheling. She had two brothers and a sister, named William, Richard and Euphemia of England.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named William, Reginald (de Dunstanville), Matilda, Sibyl, Elizabeth of Gloucester, Gundred of England and Maud.  She died on September 10th, 1169 in Notre Dame, Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France.  She was buried in Bec Abbey, Le Bec-Hellouin, Eure, France.1 1
