Margaret was born in Of, Wessex, England.1 Margaret's father was Edward the Atheling and her mother was Agatha von Braunschweig. Her paternal grandparents were Edmund II and Ealgyth of Northumbria; her maternal grandfather was Bruno of Germany. She had a brother and a sister, named Edgar and Christina. She died on November 16th, 1093 in Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh, Mid-Lothian, Scotland. She was buried in ,Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland.1 1 General Notes

In 1057 she arrived at the English court of Edwar d the Confessor. Ten years later she was in exile after William defeated Harold at the Battl e of Hastings. She fled to Scotland where she was married against her wishes to King Malcol m to whom she bore six sons and two daughters. Her unlerned and boorish husband grew daily mo re graceful and Christian under the queen's graceful influence.
