James Whitaker 
James was born on September 1st, 1773 in ,Halifax, NC.1 James' father was John Whitaker and his mother was Christian Benton. His paternal grandparents were Richard Whitaker and Elizabeth Cary; his maternal grandfather was Absalom Benton. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Eli Benton, Richard, John, Cary, Absalom Benton, Wilson Cary, Elizabeth, Martha and Margaret Green. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 52 on September 20th, 1825.1 -
