Absalom was born about 1729 in Of, Chowan, NC.1   Absalom's father was John Benton. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Elijah, Epaphroditus, Jethro, John, Moses, Charity, Christian, Jerusha Charity, Judith and Mary.  He died in 1806 in Edgecombe County, NC.1
