William Rufus Shipley

William Rufus was born in 1870 in Scott County, Virginia.¹ William Rufus' father was John Childers Shipley and his mother was Nancy Martitia Green. His paternal grandparents were Caleb Shipley and Elizabeth Galloway. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Samuel Augustus, John James, David Godsey, Sarah, Mary, Nancy Jane and Ida Almira. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 20 in 1890.¹
