Nancy Winifred was born in 1831 in Tennessee.1 Nancy Winifred's father was Joshua Shipley and her mother was Mary Strickler. Her paternal grandparents were Eli Shipley and Elizabeth Kingston; her maternal grandparents were Samuel Strickler and Christina Burner. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Benjamin, Reuben, Frederick B., Joshua, Rachel, Salina, Mary and Christena E.. She was the second youngest of the nine children.-
