John Scism

John was born in 1860 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹   John's father was James M. Scism and his mother was Anna Skelton.  His paternal grandparents were William Scism and Elizabeth Duncan; his maternal grandfather was Reuben Skelton. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Reuben, James M., Sarah, Mary, Nancy and Elizabeth.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.
