William Hughes

William was born in 1818 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.¹   William's father was Abner Hughes and his mother was Sarah Iddings.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph Iddings and Alice Howell. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Benjamin, Jeremiah, Maria, Louisa, Elizabeth and Lucinda.  He was the second oldest of the eight children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Samuel, John, James, Abner, Sarah, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Mary.  He died at the age of 43 in 1861.¹
