Hannah was born about 1763 in ,Halifax, North Carolina.1 Hannah's father was Francis Bythell Haynes and her mother was Anne Bell. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas III Haynes and Bythell; her maternal grandparents were William Bell and Ann Jones. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Bythell, Christopher, Thomas, Francis Lawrence, William, Anna, Lucy and Mary. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.-
