Francis Bythell was born about 1730 in Of, Halifax, North Carolina.1 Francis Bythell's father was Thomas III Haynes and his mother was Bythell. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Haynes and Elizabeth Martha Jones. He had a brother named Christopher. He was the older of the two children. I have been told that Francis was born about 1734. I do not agree wi th that.
The earliest deed that He appears (as a signed witness) is dated 1749 . This
was in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Surely, he would have been o f age at
that time.
