Her paternal grandparents were William Goff and Nancy; her maternal grandparents were James Oliver and Susannah Lemons. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Josephus, James Oliver, John William, Samuel, Robert Oliver, George Oliver, Daniel, Susannah, Nancy and Mary. She was the second youngest of the eleven children.-
