John Alfred Gardner

John Alfred was born in 1835 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹   John Alfred's father was James Gardner and his mother was Anna Myers.  His paternal grandparents were John Gardner and Sophia; his maternal grandfather was Henry Myers. He had six brothers and four sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named James, Henry, Jarvis Wiley, William G., Jacob Tillman, Newton Gilbert, Sarah Jane, Nancy E., Rebecca, Hattie Miranda and Gardner.  He was the oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 29 on December 20th, 1864.¹
