John W. Combest 
John W. was born about 1836 in Kentucky.1 John W.'s father was John Combest and his mother was Jane Spencer. His paternal grandparents were Samuel D. Combest and Sarah Dick; his maternal grandparents were \\ Spencer and <Unknown>. He had four brothers and a sister, named Samuel, Wiley, Alexander, Archibald and Sarah Jane. He was the youngest of the six children. He died after 1864.1 General Notes

John W. and Mary Ann Roy were married at the home of her father in Russell County, Kentucky, in the presence of Alexander Combest, Wiley Combest, and Archibald Combest, as recorded on the marriage bond dated 13 March, 1856 and signed by John W. (X) Combest and William Roy.
