Mary Ellen Carter

Mary Ellen was born on July 13th, 1872 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹ Mary Ellen's father was James Harmon Carter and her mother was Mary Johanna Brown. Her maternal grandparents were John Brown and Mary Ash. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Robert Lee, John, Frank, Joseph Henry, Winfrey B., Harry, Floyd Charles, Ida, Alberta, Florence Emaline and Melvina. She was the oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 64 on August 8th, 1936 in ,Sullivan, Tennessee.¹
