Smith Caldwell

Smith was born in 1860 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹   Smith's father was Andrew F. Caldwell and his mother was Elizabeth.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Caldwell and Sarah. He had three brothers and a sister, named Joseph, Elias, Calvin and Lucinda Jane.  He was the oldest of the five children. He had seven half-brothers and six half-sisters, named James, Absalom, William, Jesse, Richard Anderson, Samuel J., Robert, Margaret, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, Matilda and Eliza.
