James Caldwell

James was born in 1836 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹ James' father was Andrew F. Caldwell and his mother was Hulda Dinsmore. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Caldwell and Sarah; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Dinsmore and Elizabeth Allen. He had six brothers and six sisters, named Absalom, William, Jesse, Richard Anderson, Samuel J., Robert, Margaret, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, Matilda and Eliza. He was the oldest of the thirteen children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Smith, Joseph, Elias, Calvin and Lucinda Jane.
