Samuel J. Caldwell

Samuel J. was born in 1851 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹ Samuel J.'s father was Andrew F. Caldwell and his mother was Hulda Dinsmore. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Caldwell and Sarah; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Dinsmore and Elizabeth Allen. He had six brothers and six sisters, named James, Absalom, William, Jesse, Richard Anderson, Robert, Margaret, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, Matilda and Eliza. He was the fourth youngest of the thirteen children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Smith, Joseph, Elias, Calvin and Lucinda Jane.
