Riley Shanks 
Riley was born in 1849 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Riley's father was John Shanks and his mother was Eda. His paternal grandparents were Christian Shanks and Margaret Pearson. He had four brothers and a sister, named Arthur, Nebuchednezzar, Clinton, Hiram and Rachel. He was the third oldest of the six children.
