Belvidere was born about 1838 in (Near) Marion, Lawrence Co., Oh . Belvidere's father was John Sanford BARNETT and her mother was Mary Ann BAILES. Her paternal grandparents were Isaac BARNETT and Susannah UNKNOWN; her maternal grandparents were John BAILES and Mary "Polly" FOSTER. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Lycurges Hannibal, Orlando, Frances Royer, John Eden, Tymandra , Octavia Jane, Jerushia Ellen, Mary Ann and Susan Rosella. She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.-
