His paternal grandparents were Stephen ANDRESS and Nancy Ann SINGLETON; his maternal grandparents were William Joseph (Jr) NETTLES and Mary "Lucy" THORNLEY . He had four brothers and nine sisters, named James W. , William Robert, James , George Washington , Nancy Marintha, Elizabeth J. , Susan A. , Mary , Alecy E. "Elcy", Ellen Ann , Martha , Rebecca Ann and Frances Caroline . He was the third youngest of the fourteen children. He died at the age of 64 on August 26th, 1908 in Monroe Co., AL .General Notes
