Robert was born about 1726 in Isle Of Wight Co., VA. Robert's father was Christopher SINGLETON and his mother was Sarah HUNLEY . His paternal grandparents were Henry Joshua SINGLETON and Anne NEWMAN . He had two brothers named Matthew and James . He was the oldest of the three children. He died on August 29th, 1800 in Sumter Co, SC .General Notes
"Robert was from King Williams co., VA and St. Marks Parish Clarendon Co., SC. He was a planter and his church affiliation was methodist. His military records reports he was in the Rev. war. His father is recorded as being Christopher Singleton. King Williams Co., later became Fauguier Co., VA.
Robert's will was dated Nov. 8, 1798 and proved Aug. 29 1800.
Equity Roll No. 10 filed Nov. 3, 1798, is a suit filed by Robert Singleton against his sons Richard Singleton and Joseph Singleton, in which he alleges they deceived him into making a deed to his land to them. Robert received 250 acres of land on Dec. 12, 1770. Plat recorded in vol. 19 of Colonial surveys. Source: "Historical Sketches of Sumter Co., it's birth and Growth"."
