Nathaniel (Nathan) Barnes 
Nathaniel (Nathan) was born in 1797 in VA. Nathaniel (Nathan)'s father was Sylvanus Barnes and his mother was Sarah Phelps. His paternal grandparents were Robert Barnes and Lois Porter; his maternal grandparents were John Phelps and Mary Converse. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Robert, John, Joshua, Hugh Phelps, Sylvanus Jr., Alexander, Gather, Priscilla, Reason and Mary. He died at the age of 66 on June 23rd, 1863 in Camp Chase, Columbus, Franklin Co, Ohio.General Notes
Nathaniel's birthdate is from the 1850 Harrison Co, WV census. In 1850 he was listed as a farmer. Buried in the Confederate Cemetery, Camp Chase, Ohio. He died as a prisoner of war. He worked as a cabinet maker. He was a Quaker. He and his son, Thomas, were arrested as rebel sympathizers, supposedly guiding Jone's Raiders to the best horses to steal.
