Sylvanus was born on October 6th, 1751 in Anne Arundel, MD. Sylvanus 's father was Robert Barnes and his mother was Lois Porter. His paternal grandparents were James Barnes and Keturah Shipley; his maternal grandparents were Peter Porter and Sarah Ruth Howard. He was an only child. He died at the age of 76 on July 1st, 1828 in Wood Co, WV.General Notes
