William de Ferrers 
William was born about 1136.1 William's father was Robert (William) de Ferrers and his mother was Margaret Peverel. His paternal grandparents were Robert de Ferrers and Hawise de Vitre; his maternal grandparents were William Peverel the Younger Lord Nottingham and Avice de Lancaster. He was an only child. He died before October 21st, 1190 in Siege of Acre, Palestine. He was buried in 3rd Earl of Derby. Acceded: Bef 1160. Also Earl Ferrers. Lord of Tutbury..1 1 General Notes

There is substantial confusion over his name. See The Complete Peerage
V4.p193 for an account. Pers onally, I feel there could have been two
brothers,
William and Robert. Rober t being the Earl and when he died at Acre his
nephew William son of his brothe r William suceeded, but no documents
support this theory either!
