William Peverel the Elder Lord Nottingham 
William Peverel the Elder was born in 1040 in Normandy, France.1 William Peverel the Elder's father was Ranulph Peverel and his mother was Ingelrica Maud (Peverel). His maternal grandfather was Ingelric of England. He was an only child. He died at the age of 73 in 1113.1 General Notes

The claim has been made that William Peverel was a bast ard son of William
the Conqueror. The source for this is an old pedigree in which Peverel
appears to have been added to the family of William. There is no other
documentation which presents a relationship supporting Peverel's
p lacement as a royal bastard (there are a few grants from the king, but
there is no indication that these represent anything special). In
addition, Willia m had no other documented bastards, which suggests that
if he did have any, h e didn't bother keeping track of them. The more
recent authors that I have s een have tended not to favor such a
relationship as being accurate.
