Hiram was born in 1890.1 Hiram's father was Hiram Thompson and his mother was Elizabeth Jane Kegans. His maternal grandparents were John Ross Kegans and Clarinda Pevehouse. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Silas, Victor, Don Allan, Fred, Charley, Cleve, John, Sarah, Truzilla, Ethyl and Willie.-
