John Spain 
John was born on May 9th, 1773 in Wake County, North Carolina.1 John's father was David Spain and his mother was Abigail Roberts. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Spain and Martha Haskins; his maternal grandparents were John Roberts and Sarah Baldwin. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named William, Thomas, David, Sarah, Nancy, Martha, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Amelia and Lucy. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 79 in October 1852 in Wayne County, Tennessee.1 General Notes
