Gene Roden Funeral Home. *THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 18 Jun 1981. 'Ed gar Raper, 68, of 1020 Dickson Ave. died Saturday, 13 Jun 1981 following a fa rm accident. A hydraulic lift mechanism failed on his tractor-towed shredder as Raper shredded grass near Lamar Paint. According to Justice of the Peace C hester Oakes, Raper suffered no apparent injuries and speculated that a heart attack brought on by the mishap may have been the total cause of death. Fune ral services were held Tuesday, 16 Jun in the Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Semple and the Rev. Merle Parker officiating. Burial wa s in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Gene Roden's Sons had charge of arrangements. He was born on 27 Oct 1912, in Maxey, the son of Henry Luther and Etta Moore Ra per in the Maxey community. He married Evy Lee Clarkson on 19 Apr 1935. He wa s a mechanic and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife ; one son, Lawrence Ray Raper of California, Md.; one daughter, Mrs. Billy (G eorgia) Weddle of Paris; two brothers, Alton Raper and H.L. Raper, both of Po wderly; one sister, Mrs. Joe (Sarah) Armstrong of Paris; and six grandchildre n.'
