REFN: 9830 THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, September 21, 1983: 'Funeral services fo r Alton Marris Raper, Rt. 1, Powderly, will be held Thursday, September 22, at 2 p.m. in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasa nt Hill Cemetery. Mr. Raper died Tuesday, September 20, at McCuistion Medical Center. He was born Jan. 17, 1910, in the Maxey community, a son of Henry Lu ther Raper and Etta Alice Moore Raper. He retired as a welder at Babcock and Wilcox after 20 years service. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War I I as a machinist. He married Dorothy Oletta Goodman on Aug. 4, 1951. He was a Baptist. Survivors are his wife; a son, Don Stuckey of Paris; a sister, Mrs . J. N. (Sarah) Armstrong of Paris; a brother, H. L. Raper of Powderly and tw o grandchildren.' *Tombstone is inscribed, 'MM1 US Navy WW II.'
