Margaret Jane was born in 1831.1 Margaret Jane's father was James Crawford and her mother was Louisa Buchanan. Her paternal grandparents were John Crawford and Margaret Buchanan; her maternal grandfather was Andrew Buchanan. She had five brothers named Andrew Buchanan, Finis Ewing, William Pierson, Pleasant and Isaac Newton. She was the third oldest of the six children.General Notes
