Finis Ewing was born on August 6th, 1828.1 Finis Ewing's father was James Crawford and his mother was Louisa Buchanan. His paternal grandparents were John Crawford and Margaret Buchanan; his maternal grandfather was Andrew Buchanan. He had four brothers and a sister, named Andrew Buchanan, William Pierson, Pleasant, Isaac Newton and Margaret Jane. He was the second oldest of the six children.General Notes
