Mary was born on March 19th, 1777 in Washington, Virginia.1   Mary's father was Samuel Buchanan and her mother was Elizabeth Duncan.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Buchanan and Martha McNutt. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Robert, Andrew, Samuel, John Brown, Martha S, Jane, Elizabeth, Nancy and Peggy.  She was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 63 on June 9th, 1840 in Williamson County, Tennessee.1
