William Cravens Roberts 
William Cravens was born on February 10th, 1848 in Harrison County, Indiana.1 William Cravens' father was Richard Roberts and his mother was Mary Jane Hancock. His maternal grandparents were Mathew Hancock and Elizabeth Hooker. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James H., Samuel Addison, Sarah Ann "Sallie" and Lydia Evaline "Evie". He was the second oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 33 on October 25th, 1881. He was buried in Hancock Chapel Cemetery, Hancock Chapel, Harrison County, Indiana.2 General Notes

There is a Masonic emblem on William's gravestone (Hancock Chapel Cemetery, Hancock Chapel, Blue River Township, Harrison County, Indiana) as well as the following inscription: "W C Roberts was an honest Christian merchant very useful to his fellow men and the country he lived in."
