Flora Anita was born on December 11th, 1877 in Fredericksburg, Washington County, Indiana. Flora Anita's father was Levi Pitman Hottel and her mother was Anett Horner. Her paternal grandparents were Peter Hottel and Elizabeth Pitman; her maternal grandparents were Samuel Horner and Mary Leah "Polly" Andrew. She had four brothers and a sister, named Milton Benton, Walter E., Wilbur W., Louis and Lillian (Lillie) Mae. She was the second youngest of the six children.-
