John Conrad was born on December 22nd, 1779 in Mt. Olive, Shenandoah County, VA. John Conrad's father was David Hottel and his mother was Margaret UNKNOWN. He was an only child. He died about 1850 in Harrison County, Indiana.General Notes
In a letter to Lillie Mae Hottel Roberts from D. P. and S. Hottel:
"Dear Niece, My grandfather John Conrad Hottel was born in Shenandoah County, Virginia... Enclosed, the letter you received from W. D. Huddle..." W. D. Huddle is the author of History of the Descendents of John Hottel (Immigrant from Switzerland to America)]
