Marietta was born in 1857 in Shasta, Shasta, CA.1 Marietta's father was Miles Cahow and her mother was Tamson Galland. Her maternal grandparents were David Galland and Phebe Gandy. She had four brothers and a sister, named Nicholas, Abijah, John W, Alonzo and Sarah Jane. She was the youngest of the six children. She had a half-brother named William A.-
