!Named for his uncle, and his great uncle, who was a Lieutenant in the
3rd Regiment from Frederick Co, Md., who volunteered as a youth, fought
at the Battle of Germantown Penn, in Dec 1777, in Gen Wm Smallwood's
Brigade, was severely wounded in action, but recovered.
!Robert D Dawson listed as a farmer 1850/60 and a rather wealthy one;
in an area of $300 farms with a few up to $2-3000, his valued at
$12,840 in 1860, in additon to $1720 in personal property, 1850/60
sons Benoni and Ruel also listed as farmers on his property

1914 NY: Born on his father's farm near Ohioville, Beaver Co PA. He
followed the farmers occupaiton throughout his entire active career.
After his marriage he lived for two years in Ohio township. Then he took
up his residence in Columbiana County Ohio, later returning to his native
place and settling on land which became part of the Ferguson farm, there
residing for eight years. He then purchased one hundred acres of land
near Fairview, thereon erecting a substantial brick house, later used as a
residence by his daughter Catherine also building a smaller house of
brick which was also standing in 1914. Before his death on Dec 2, 1882,
he had acquired two hundred acres adjoining making his farm three
hundred acres in extent. Honor and industry were the two cardinal
principles of his daily life, the first gaining for him the respect and
esteem of his friends and neighbors, the second providing him and his
family with plenty of the good of this world. He continued the faith of
his fathers and was a member of the Episcopal Church and supported the
Whig Party in all political issues.
Last Will and Testament of
R. D. Dawson

I, R.D.Dawson of the Township of Ohio in the County of Beaver and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind memory and understanding do publish and declare this my last will and Testament in manner following, that is to say--
First I will and bequeath to my son William K Dawson all the money that I have in the [...?...] Bank.
Second, I give to my two daughters Mary Ann Dawson and Katharine Dawson all the real estate that is not already deeded which belongs to me and all notes and deposits and all Household and kitchen furniture and all farming implements and all personal property & all stock that I may have the [...] at my decease and all profits that may [...] from the same this second bequest that in lieu of the one Thousand dollars that I have already given my son Rule R Dawson and in lieu of the land which I have already deeded to my sons Benoni Dawson, Robert D Dawson and Daniel Dawson.
Third, It is my request my daughters Mary Ann and Katharine Dawson take care and provide for my son William McK Dawson and at the death of William McK Dawson that which is left of his legacy is to be divided between Mary Ann and Katherine Dawson.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Eleventh day of Oct A. D. 1876.
