Sir was born in 1230 in Hedinham, Essex, England.1 Sir's father was Hugh de Vere Earl of Oxford and his mother was Hawise de Quincy. His paternal grandparents were Robert de Vere Earl of Oxford and Isabella de Bolbec; his maternal grandparents were Saire de Quincy IV Earl of Winchester and Margaret de Harcourt. He had a sister named Isabel. He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother named Robert. He died at the age of 66 on September 2nd, 1296.1 General Notes

says it was
Alice de Sanford who was the mother of Joan. That is a reliable
