Hugh de Vere was born about 1210 in Hatfield, Essex, England/Hatfield, England.1 Hugh de Vere's father was Robert de Vere Earl of Oxford and his mother was Isabella de Bolbec. His paternal grandparents were Aubrey de Vere III Earl of Oxford and Agnes of Essex; his maternal grandparents were Hugh de Bolbec Lord Bolbec and Margaret de Montfichet. He was an only child.
