Ludia Ambrose was born on November 11th, 1914 in Lexington County, South Carolina.1 Ludia Ambrose's father was Ludie Mitchell Shealy and his mother was Shalldonia Elizabeth Bundrick. His paternal grandparents were Leonard L. Shealy and Martha Isabelle Comalander; his maternal grandfather was George Adam Bundrick. He had three brothers and four sisters, named George Marion, Walter O'Neal, James Thurmond, Eva Mae, Martha Irene, Claudia Ethel (Effie) and Evelyn Margalee. He was the third youngest of the eight children.-
