Eva Mae was born on October 27th, 1904 in Lexington County, South Carolina.1 Eva Mae's father was Ludie Mitchell Shealy and her mother was Shalldonia Elizabeth Bundrick. Her paternal grandparents were Leonard L. Shealy and Martha Isabelle Comalander; her maternal grandfather was George Adam Bundrick. She had four brothers and three sisters, named George Marion, Walter O'Neal, James Thurmond, Ludia Ambrose, Martha Irene, Claudia Ethel (Effie) and Evelyn Margalee. She was the second oldest of the eight children.-
