Mrs. Wessinger, Chapin, Dies; Services Today
Mrs. Martha Anna Wessinger, 80, of Chapin, died at 4:15 yesterday morning
at the Baptist Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Wessinger was
the widow of Joseph Wesley Wessinger and was a member of Mount Horeb
Lutheran Church at Chapin.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. D.W. Epting of Leesville, Mrs. John
G. Frick of Little Mountain, Mrs. L.H. Koon of Columbia, Miss Ruth
Wessinger and Miss Eloise Wessinger, both of Chapin, and Mrs. J.E. Shealy
of Columbia; four sons, E.O. Wessinger of West Columbia, Charles Wesley
Wesinger of Little Mountain, Jacob Earl Wessinger and Henry Cecil
Wessinger, both of Chapin; three sisters, Mrs. Mack Adison of Newberry,
Mrs. Loretta Frick of Little Mountain, Mrs. Ava Summers of Chapin; one
brother, N.Z. Sease of Columbia; 27 grandchildren and 43
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon from Mount
Horeb Lutheran Church at Chapin, conducted by the Rev. John Koch, pastor,
and the Rev. Karl A. Honeycutt. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include Oscar Frick, Curtis Wessinger, Emil Koon,
Howard Wessinger, Cline Epting and Herbert Wessinger. They will meet at
3:15 at the residence.
Honorary pallbearers will be P.B. Lindler, Louis Gates, Walter Rauch,
Evans Lindler, Eston Shealy, Worth Gosa, Everett Summers, Jake Varn, J.
Elbert Kelly, J.R. Henderson, Jr., J.J. Derrick, Henry W. Harris, W.P.
