George Shaffer was born on March 19th, 1891 in Westminster, Oconee Co., SC.1 George Shaffer's father was Joseph Parker McDonald and his mother was Julia Ann Sarepta Frances Winter. His maternal grandparents were James Cook Winter and Serepta Ann Glenn. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Henry Winter, James Parker (Jim), Anna Alberta, Sara Fleda, Sarepta Glenn (Seppie), Rosa Milly and Susan Beulah. He was the youngest of the eight children.-
