Elias was born on April 17th, 1808 in Abington, , PA.1 Elias' father was John Kirk and his mother was Tabitha Lukens. His paternal grandparents were Jacob Kirk and Elizabeth Cleaver. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Seneca Lukens, Jacob L., Alfred, Elizabeth L., Sarah L., Emaline, Tacy Anne and Priscilla. He was the oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 80 on March 14th, 1889 in Horsham, , PA.1 General Notes
