Pepin I de Lombardy was born in April 0773 in of Aachen, Germany.1 Pepin I de Lombardy's father was Charlemagne Holy Roman Emp and his mother was Hildegarde von Vinzgau. His paternal grandparents were Pepin III the Short King of Franks and Bertrada "Broadfoot" de Laon; his maternal grandparents were Gerold I (Childebrand) Duke of Swabia and Imma de Allemania. He had two brothers named Charles of Ingelheim and Louis le Debonaire. He was the second oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Hugues and Alpais.
