Thomas Bowles was born on June 9th, 1922. Thomas Bowles' father was Pendleton McLain Shiflett and his mother was Mary Louise Bowles. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Joseph Bowles and Ann Bigger Crump. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Pendleton McLain, Robert Walter, Ann Crump and Mary Louise. He was the second youngest of the five children.-
