Pendleton McLain was born on July 2nd, 1914. Pendleton McLain's father was Pendleton McLain Shiflett and his mother was Mary Louise Bowles. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Joseph Bowles and Ann Bigger Crump. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Robert Walter, Thomas Bowles, Ann Crump and Mary Louise. He was the oldest of the five children.-
