James Clifton Shields 
James Clifton was born before 1890. James Clifton's father was William Henry Shields and his mother was Nancy Hammer Childress. His maternal grandparents were James Clifton Childress and Sophronia Eliza Tapscott. He had a brother and two sisters, named Willie Peyton, Nellie and Susan Sophronia. He was the youngest of the four children.-
