James Obediah Rainey 
James Obediah was born in 1824 in Tennessee. James Obediah's father was Thomas Rainey and his mother was Mary Claiborne Echols. His paternal grandparents were James Rainey and Nancy Samuels; his maternal grandparents were Obediah Echols and Lucy Atkinson Jackson. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Claudius H., Thomas Claiborne, Josiah Lawson, Samuel Brame, Leonidas Echols, Cornelia Mutter and Anne Janette. He was the second oldest of the eight children.
