Richard Beckwith was born on August 9th, 1777 in Fluvanna Co., VA.1 Richard Beckwith's father was Robert Burton Payne and his mother was Margaret Sydenham Morton. His paternal grandparents were George Payne and Judith Burton; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Morton and Margaret Beckwith. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Robert Burton, Joseph, Lucy Morton, Molly Jordan, Margaret Sydenham, Eliza Brockenbrough and Ann. He died at the age of 81 on September 8th, 1858 in Fluvanna Co., VA. He was buried in Payne Cemetery, Rt. 682 between williams & Able Creek.-
